Toys for kids
Yesterday afternoon, I went with several Cali Couchsurfers to take toys and gifts to kids in a poor barrio high above Cali. The group had raised money to buy lots of gifts and delivered them to a couple barrios Wednesday and Thursday. We all squeezed into the back of a jeep with our large plastic bags full of toys and headed up winding, steep roads. Then after the jeep couldn’t take us any farther, we walked up a dirt road. Within minutes, it started raining. Soon after we arrived to our destination, kids started coming. Soon, there were about a hundred or more lining up outside the building. People at the foundation that work with the kids, read their names out loud and they the kids came forward to receive their Christmas gift. There were lots of smiles and excited kids. It was great to be a part of this. Here is a photo of one girl with her stuffed animal. More photos to come later.
