Wow! This is my 800th post in my blog. That’s a lot of pages. Yesterday afternoon and evening was Salsa en la Calle in Portland. Every summer, there are about 6 bands or so and many classes in salsa, merengue, cha cha cha and bachata. In this photo, Erick Gonzalez and his wife, Catherine, both in white pants, teach a beginning salsa class. Years ago, Erick was one of my salsa instructors in Portland. He was originally from Guatemala. I think he told me his first dance was tango. He now knows about 8 or more different dances. He’s a great dancer and a fun instructor. He and his wife will be competing in the world cup of salsa competition in Las Vegas this fall.

The main band for Salsa en la Calle couldn’t make it do to passport problems. They were Adolescentes Orquestra from Venezuela. I was hoping to hear them. The other bands I heard were all good.
