Buenaventura y Playa Pianguita
Juan Carlos, a teacher in Bocas del Palo (right) and others from that town get off the launch at Playa Pianguita. Sunday, I was invited, along with my friend, Liceth, to go with Juan Carlos and a group from Bocas del Palo to Buenaventura and the playa. We left about 4:30 a.m. in a chartered bus for the 3 hour trip to the port town of Buenaventura. It was my first time there. From the dock there, we took several launches to Playa Pianguita, one of several beaches with access by boat only. The beach had black sand, unlike the white that we had in Cartagena. We spent the day relaxing and swimming in the ocean. There was also a soccer game. I played goalie for one of the teams. For lunch, I had sancocho de pescado, a fish soup. It was served with rice, salad, platanos and juice. It was very good. By 4:30 p.m., we’d had enough sun and it was time to leave by boat for Buenaventura and our bus back to Cali.
