Last Thursday, as part of the Feria de Cali, was the superconcierto in the soccer stadium Pascual Guerrero, close to where I live. I went with my friend, Liceth. We got there plenty early since the lines would start and we had first come first serve seats. The concert was supposed to start at 7 p.m. and it finally started at about 9 or 9:30 p.m. Liceth had brought part of the newspaper with games so we played Sudoku and other mind games to pass the time. The concert started with a reggaeton group from Medellin. Then there was a group that played ranchero ballads, Mexican style ballads. The best came next. Carlos Vives, pictured above, and his vallenato group. They were great and played a long time. Also playing were the salsa groups, Los Van Van from Cuba, Grupo Niche from Cali and El Gran Combo from Puerto Rico. I think we probably left about 4 a.m. when it was almost over. I had left my house at 4:30 p.m. and got home about 4:30 a.m. I got about 2 1/2 hours of sleep, then had to leave to meet people for Friday’s parade. Towards the latter part of the concert, the officials left people move down to the floor. We went too. Liceth led the way, weaving her way through the crowd. Before long, we were close to the front of the stage and I was able to get some good photos with my point and shoot camera.
