Yesterday morning was the championship soccer match for my friend, Pichi, and his young team in Siloé. They played a hard fought game for two halves with no score. Then, they went into penalty kicks. Each team had five players kicking at the goal. Pichi’s team won easily. The kids went crazy celebrating, and even throwing bags of flour on each other. I asked Pichi where the big trophy was and he told me that they receive 200,000 pesos instead. That’s about $100. It would be nice if they could purchase uniforms or shirts for the team.
