A rough night
This part of a mural could be an abstract of what I looked like this morning. I saw it during an early morning walk. Last night was quite interesting. About 3 a.m., I was awakened by loud booms of thunder. Soon, it began to rain. Then, suddenly, there was the most incredibly loud blast of thunder I’ve ever heard. I soon felt that the bed was wet. I got up and turned on the light. There was water dripping fast from spots on the ceiling, both above and onto the bed and alongside the bed onto the floor. I put down newspaper and bath towels, but it was dripping fast. I went to the kitchen and found two large bowls and placed them under the largest drips. I moved the bed against the wall and away from the drips. After the rain died down and the thunder had stopped, I was able to sleep a few hours more. The ceiling light had gone out too after several minutes during all of this. Today, I saw that the large bulb was half full of water. This afternoon, the landlady’s handyman came and cleaned and dried out the light socket and fixture. The new bulb worked. He then went up on the roof and patched up the area where the rain had come through. Hopefully, it will hold for the next 3 weeks that I have left in Cali.
