This past Thursday, I went on a hike with my Longview friend, Steve Chase. We drove to an area near Carson, Wa. We started at the trailhead which was near Taylor Lake. It was a 7.6 mile round trip hike past about 6 lakes and ending at Blue Lake, near the Pacific Crest Trail. At Eunice Lake, we missed a fork in the trail and ended up following what we thought was the trail. It took us around the edge of the lake and eventually ended up in thick brush with no visible trail. We decided to go back and see if we missed the real trail. We found it and realized that we had now made our hike into a 8.5 mile or so hike. At Blue Lake, we rested and ate our lunches. The entire day was beautiful with a perfectly clear blue sky. It was a great way to spend a day with my friend. I had met him years ago when I did a photo story for The Daily News newspaper on a woman boxer. Steve was the boxing coach for her at the Kelso Boxing Club which he operated. He has coached for over 20 years at least two evenings a week. Steve is a very mellow and laid back guy, really nice. We had a great time visiting and catching up during the day.
