Herencia de Timbiquí
Herencia de Timbiquí vocalist William Angulo Ocoró sings in front of the crowd Friday evening at Teatro Municipal in Cali. The band was giving a concert to promote their fourth cd. I have seen them several times. They are becoming my favorite Colombian group. They play music from the Pacific coast. Marimbas and drums are important, but they also have a great horn section. I think there are 13 members in the group. Ocoró is one of the two lead vocalists. The concert was to start at 7 p.m. In fairly typical Colombian fashion, the doors didn’t open until a little after 7. The concert started promptly at 8 p.m., only an hour late. But, it was a great concert and well worth it.
